[NEWS] Turning 2015 MMAs into their Festival, BIGBANG Proves Why They Should Become the Artist of the Year

The Artist of the Year Award went to BIGBANG, and no one would object to their winning the award.

BIGBANG won four awards at the 2015 Melon Music Awards, which was held at the Olympic Gymnastics Stadium, Bangi-dong at 7 PM on November 7.

All the hot musicians of this year appeared in the ceremony, but it was BIGBANG who won the Artist of the Year and the Best Song Awards.

In addition, they received the Netizens’ Pick and the Top10 awards, making them win a total of four awards.

The concept of the 2015 MMAs was “music connect”, and the Top10 Awards went to Apink, BIGBANG, EXO, San E, Zion.T, SHINee, Girls’ Generation, Sistar, Toy, and Hyukoh.

BIGBANG, who released an album as a team for the first time in three years, became the star of the 2015 MMAs.

For their acceptance speech, BIGBANG said, “Ten years have passed since we debuted. We have received a lot of love and support. We will continue to make good music in the next 10 or even 20 years.”

They added, “This album was released after a three-year break. We would like to thank CEO YANG HYUN SUK and the staff for their hard work in releasing mini albums every month. We would also like to thank our parents for their love and support.”

When BIGBANG members were delivering their acceptance speeches, T.O.P and G-DRAGON and TAEYANG had tears in their eyes.

At the MMAs, BIGBANG performed “SOBER” and “IF YOU” for the first time on stage. First, they sang “IF YOU” full of emotions.

Then, they sang “LOSER” and “BANG BANG BANG” and enthralled the fans. Lastly, they performed “IF YOU”, the first time performing the song on stage. Their unique energy and groove made the performances spectacular.

For the encore song, they sang “FANTASTIC BABY”. They were the last to go on stage at the 2015 MMAs but turned the award ceremony into one of their concerts. Their performances and the response from the audience proved why they were chosen as the Artist of the Year.

Meanwhile, the Best Album went to EXO. They were not able to attend because of their schedules abroad but they prepared a video message.

Mad Clown received Best Rap/Hiohop and Hong Jin Yong, the Best Trot award. The Male and Female Best Dance awards went to Bangtan Boy and Red Velvet, respectively. iKON and Girl Friend became the winners of Male and Female Rookie of the Year. The Hot Trend award was given to the Yongdong Highway Music Festival of MBC’s Infinite Challenge. Also, Monsta X received the Best Performance award and EXID, the Music Star award.

MMAs have been held for the seventh time this year, and the 2015 MMAs was a chance to watch the performances of all the star musicians.
