[Live review] Big Bang draws throngs to impressive North American debut at Honda Center
Imagine a young group whose first-ever performance in North America plays out before a near-capacity crowd at Honda Center. That’s exactly the dream-gig scenario for Big Bang, a South Korean male quintet that thrilled an audience of mostly teen girls and twentysomething fans Friday night in Anaheim.
Formed in 2006, the well-marketed troupe has been expanding its brand since returning from a two-year hiatus in 2011 intent on reaching audiences beyond its native land and Japan, where the singing and dancing K-Pop sensation has racked up plenty of hits both together and via solo projects. Now the group, the sole Asian ensemble to win the World Act prize at the MTV Europe Music Awards, is on its first world tour, visiting 25 cities in 16 countries, including China, Thailand and Indonesia, plus a stop at the U.K.’s Wembley Arena.
[NEWS] Big Bang Kicks Off Americas Tour With Successful Concert in LA
Big Bang descended on Los Angeles, where the group met with 24,000 concert attendees and gave a glimpse of the things to come.
Since kicking off its global concert tour earlier this year, the group has mainly performed to sold-out crowds in the Asia region including China, Thailand, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.
Big Bang finally kicked off the Americas leg of its concert tour with two days of concert in LA at the Honda center on November 2 and 3.
Selling out both days of concerts, some 24,000 concert attendees came to watch the group perform over the two days with Glee actors Harry Shum Jr. and Kevin McHale among those in the crowd.
New outfits were produced for the members for the Americas concert tour as the boys kicked things off with Still Alive before going through a parade of their hits including Lie, Heaven, Fantastic Baby and more for a total of 23 passionate song performances.
Big Bang’s G-Dragon also gave a first-ever performance of the remix version of his recent solo album title song, Crayon which whipped the crowd into a frenzy and brought a passionate response from the fans.
The Big Bang members will next move on to the East coast and perform at New Jersey’s Prudential Center on November 8 and 9. Afterwards, Big Bang will hit up Peru on November 14.
