[NEWS] Upcoming YG Family Japanese concert tour estimated to bring in over $26 million USD
YG Entertainment will most likely rake in a revenue of over $26,000,000 USD after performing in two cities in Japan.
The artists of YG Entertainment are currently in preparations of the Japanese portion of their ‘YG 15th Anniversary Family Concert‘ tour, and they will be performing in front of 80,000 fans over the course of two shows (7th & 8th) at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka, as well as 80,000 more fans at the Super Arena in Saitama.
Each ticket sold for over $160, and ticket sales from their Japanese shows alone will most likely be over $26,000,000. This of course, doesn’t include the revenue they will also bring in from the concert merchandise.
This is the result of building YG awareness in Japan for the past 7 years, beginning with singer Se7en‘s Japanese debut in 2005. This is the first time in six years YG is putting on a family concert in Japan. The last was held back in August of 2006, when they sold out both performances in Tokyo and Osaka.
This family concert tour is especially meaningful, as it is the first after the establishment of ‘YGEX‘ in conjunction with Japanese record label AVEX. And although it is the first family concert in six years, it was obvious that the fans’ love and support for the YG Entertainment has only grown since.
Ahead of their Japanese performances, the YG artists completed their national shows at Olympic Stadium in Seoul with performances by Jinusean, Gummy, Big Bang, Se7en, 2NE1, as well as the newer family members Psy and Tablo. The performances were met with an explosive reaction from fans.
The YG artists wrapped up their rehearsals on the 2nd, and will be heading over to Japan.

[MISC] BIGBANG & GD&TOP ON "MOST MEMORABLE MVs OF 2011!"
Just three days into 2012, and we’ve already got a handful of teasers and releases from rookie groups and seasoned veterans alike. But before we move onto a brand new year of comebacks and debuts, let’s take a look at some of 2011′s most memorable music videos.
We picked ten of our favorites from the past year, from the obvious picks (ie. Big Bang‘s award-winning “Love Song”) to those we think deserve a second watch (ie. JOO‘s totally underrated MV for “Bad Guy”).
In no particular order, here are MTV K’s picks for Most Memorable MVs of 2011:
GD&TOP — “Knock Out”
Released: January 3, 2011
Why We Loved It: As much as we love Big Bang with the full roster of five, we’re so glad GD&TOP happened. Kicking off 2011 with one of the freshest, most laid-back MVs of the year, GD&TOP continued to show off the results of blending their unique tastes into an entirely new style. The Diplo-produced song itself was eventually banned from all three major broadcasting stations for its “harmful” use of slang, but it’s hard to imagine a performance that lives up to this visually-appetizing video. By no means are we endorsing the use of scantily-clad female back dancers (or pastel-colored eyebrows, for that matter), but there’s just so much greatness going on in this MV: The fashion, the bubble wrap, the butt chairs, and of course, a cameo by the one and only Gaho.
Big Bang — “Love Song”
Released: April 13, 2011
Why We Loved It: After surpassing expectations with their fourth mini album early last year, Big Bang soon followed up “Tonight” promotions with “Love Song,” but the group began winning awards on music shows before they even took their first step back on the stage. Sure, it’s a fantastic song, but we can’t help but think their epic MV played a small part in getting those wins. The cinematography and production, from the camera work and timing to the post-apocalyptical set and all its accompanying props, is nothing short of impressive, making it one of our favorite MVs of the year. “Love Song” nabbed the 2011 MAMA for Best Music Video back in November — good to know we’re not the only ones who loved it.

[NEWS] YG HINTS AT AN EARLIER COMEBACK FOR BIGBANG
For the past month, Big Bang has been dropping hints on their March comeback. According to industry officials, however, the boys could be making their return a month earlier than expected.
The boys had planned to release an album ahead of their ‘Big Show‘ concert in March. Officials believe that in order for this to be possible, their album has to be released by late February at the latest.
Taeyang recently revealed to Star News, “We’re planning for our ‘Big Show’ concert in March, and around that time, Big Bang will release a new album. Whether it’s an official studio album or a mini-album has yet to be decided.”
Officials have been noticing that YG Entertainment has been pooling all of their resources into Big Bang’s comeback album lately. They’ve been rushing to enlist music video directors and have concentrated their staff on its release.
Additionally, the members have already recorded a number of new songs together over their hiatus, thus lending weight to the claims made by officials that the album may be released by mid-February at the earliest.
