BIGBANG and their label YG Entertainment have been always together like the right and left hands, for the past 10 years. After taking the top place in Korea’s music scene together, they have now decided to take on another journey to reach higher goals together.
It is not an exaggeration to say that the year 2015 was the year of BIGBANG. BIGBANG’s “MADE” series that began in May this year recorded the No.1 on monthly charts for four consecutive month. BIGBANG’s world tour that is currently underway has been fascinating 1.5 million people around the world, selling out all the tickets in the United States, Australia, and Mexico. As such, BIGBANG is an unsurpassable top idol group whom other groups can call “wanna-be”, not a “rival”. Usually, there are a lot of temptations for such top artists. Indeed, many of such top groups yielded to those temptations, to leave the throne. However, BIGBANG reconfirmed their unshakable bond and loyalty with YG.
It is not easy for an idol group to work with one label with no one of the members leaving the team for 10 years. There is something more than loyalty in such relationship. Such unshakable relationship is possible only when both parties have deep trust in one another, which is, the firm belief that the two need each other to shine and to grow further in the future.
Indeed, YG and BIGBANG have grown together so far. YG and BIGBANG have gone through every process to become the top together, as the best entertainment company and the best idol group in Korea, respectively. Therefore, needless to say, the two are perfect partners who know about one another best.
It is also notable that the public and fans have also thought that BIGBANG will of course renew their contract with YG. Such belief is something that cannot be formed by one-time event, but by firm trust built for 10 years. So, the renewal of contract between BIGBANG and YG was just something supposed to happen, which is naturally accepted by everyone. People even tend to forget that such case is a very rare one in Korea’s music scene.
YG’s head YANG HYUN SUK once expressed his trust in BIGBANG, saying, “BIGBANG is a team grown on the ground of YG’s system. Since they are now like my family, I don’t think there will be any critical disagreement between us”. BIGBANG also expressed their firm trust in YG. The renewal of the contract between YG and BIGBANG was possible based on BIGBANG’s belief that the best system for them to fully exert their potential is YG.
The relationship between BIGBANG and YG will go down in the history of Korea’s music scene as a desirable example of relationship between an artist and his label. Music fans are now paying keen attention to what kind of further evolution BIGBANG will show based on the further-consolidated trust between the team and YG.
