[NEWS] BIGBANG Returns July 1: Dominates Girl Group Battle?

In the midst of all the hype surrounding a so-called “girl-group battle” in the music industry this summer, BIGBANG is again gearing up for a new song release. Will the quintet dominate charts once again?

BIGBANG unveiled the teaser of album “D,” the third of the MADE SERIES. Now their upcoming release is official.

At midnight of June 27 YG Entertainment uploaded on its social media page the teaser of “if you.” On the poster reads the caption,” 07.01 0AM.”

“BANG BANG BANG” and “WE LIKE 2 PARTY” released on June 1 was about power and charisma, but the upcoming “if you” seems quite different. The poster features the five members in sorrow but masculine charms.

Written and composed by G-DRAGON, “if you” is said to be of a slow tempo, which is absolutely different from the previous songs.

As BIGBANG’s new track release became official, all eyes in the music industry are on the group to see if they will continue on with the “BIGBNAG phenomenon.”

In May, BIGBANG’s dynamic comeback made everyone forget that they had been away for so long. BIGBANG simply dominated the entire music world in the whole of May and June.

BIGBANG quickly took over charts with “LOSER” and “BAE BAE” in May. For more than 20 days the two tracks occupied the top two slots on charts. “LOSER” broke the record for being #1 for the longest period of time this year. Despite strong releases by other artists, BIGBANG proved their music power by even climbing back up the rankings.

BIGBANG swept across all charts and won numerous trophies on music programs in May, and they returned in June with upbeat tracks that were perfect for the summer season.

June was heated up by BIGBANG going against EXO. So attention naturally fell on South Korea’s two largest entertainment agencies YG and SM. The battle was indeed fierce, and BIGBANG showcased some dynamic power. “BANG BANG BANG” and “WE LIKE 2 PARTY” are still ranked in the top range, after nearly a month of release.

In July BIGBANG is up against other rivals again. This time they are girl groups. Sistar’s “Shake It” has topped music charts for 6 days in a row and AOA’s “Heart Attack” is performing well. Girl’s Day, a group known for doing well on charts, will also be returning on July 6. Girls’ Generation and APink are also gearing up for a comeback in July.

But looking at BIGBANG’s previous records, it would not be too hard for them to dominate charts once again. The fact that the upcoming songs are different from their previous tracks is already attracting much attention.

And as GD and TAEYANG are said to be part of the music festival held by “Infinite Challenge,” BIGBANG is showered in spotlight. Their appearance on the show will help BIGBANG attract attention to the MADE project that will last until September.

All eyes are on the quintet to see whether “if you” on July 1 can create another kingdom of BIGBANG, and if it can beat the girl group battles.
