[NEWS] B2ST’s Jang Hyunseung admits he was envious of Big Bang’s success
The members of B2ST guest-featured on the February 21st episode of ‘Win Win‘ and talked about how each of the members were with different labels prior to their debut as ‘B2ST’.
Member Jang Hyunseung opened up about his days training under YG Entertainment to debut with Big Bang, which grabbed high attention from his fans.
“I auditioned to become a member of Big Bang, and even became a finalist,” he said. “In the end, it came down to me and Seungri but I got cut.”
When asked if he grew envious of Big Bang once they became successful, he answered, “I was envious after they became successful. If I did better, I think we could have even been a six-member group.”
“But I did not want to force myself in between the members who were exceptionally talented,” he honestly said.
“How did Big Bang react when you received unending love and support with 4minute‘s HyunA as ‘Troublemaker‘?”, the MCs asked again, and Hyunseung who still keeps in contact with the Big Bang members remarked, “As soon as I called them, they began humming the melody to our song.”

[NEWS] Big Bang dominates music charts with “Blue”
As soon as Big Bang released their new track “Blue“, the group has been dominating various music charts and is expected to make a huge impact on the music industry.
Since its official release today, “Blue” has claimed the number one spots on various Korean music portal sites such as MelOn, Naver, Nate, and Dosirak.
It has been about a year since Big Bang has released an album and this song’s lyrical melody and Big Bang’s mature has created a harmonious mix that clearly expresses the title of the song. The title “Blue” represents the sadness that one feels when they loose their lover and this song expresses the emotional side of Big Bang that has been hidden before.
The music video, which was filmed in New York, further emphasizes the bittersweet aura. The video has received over 20,000 responses from all over the world since being uploaded onto Youtube earlier today.
One commented, “It doesn’t feel like this group debuted five years ago because they always have a fresh feel” and many other comments did not hold back on their compliments for Big Bang always being able to impress with a different kind of charm each time.

[NEWS] Which Big Bang Member Looks Most Like an Idol Star?
Big Bang’s Seungri has given his two cents on his fellow members’ idol star appeal.
The Big Bang members appeared on the February 20 episode of SBS’ Healing Camp, where they confessed that when they were starting out, they did not know they would be an idol group.
“I joined not knowing the group I’d join would be an idol group,” said rapper T.O.P. “When our manager said the five of us would be made into an idol group, I looked at the faces of the other members and was shocked.”
Taeyang said, “I think I became a dragon the most (a Korean expression used to describe someone who’s made the biggest improvement). When someone would say we were going to become idols during our trainee days, I would think to myself: ‘Idol seems a bit far fetched.’”
To this Daesung added, “I didn’t even know we were an idol group. I thought we were just a group.”
Seungri drew laughs when he said, “Still, I think in terms of visuals, T.O.P and I have the idol look. Taking out personality, skill and only looking at appearance, T.O.P and I are the idols.”
T.O.P. added, “I was once surprised when Seungri came up to me and said, ‘Don’t you think it’s unfair for us two?’”
Big Bang will release its fifth mini album, Alive on February 29, while the first single, Blue, will be released on February 22. The music video will be unveiled for the first time on SBS’ Strong Heart.

[NEWS] Big Bang's Comeback Album Sells Over 250K Copies in Pre-Order Sales
Pre-order sales for Big Bang's combeback album have surpassed the 250,000 mark. On February 21, sources close to YG Entertainment announced the news that the mini album, set to be released on February 29, had taken in over 250,000 pre-order sales. It has been 10 months since Big Bang has put out a new album. Their previous "special album" was released in April of last year. Excluding the album intro, all six songs on this new album are being promoted as title songs.
In an unprecedented move, 13 TV advertisements have been running on Korean TV since February 17, rasing the hopes and expectations of fans. The source added that they are taking care to make sure that supply doesn't run out for the album in the early stages. Big Bang will release "Blue" at midnight on February 22 (Korean time). From March 2 to 4, Big Bang plans to hold a commemorative concert at the Seoul Olympic Park. Afterwards, they will host the "BIG BANG ALIVE TOUR 2012" in 16 countries and 25 cities.
Soompi has gotten an exclusive sneak listen to "Blue" which will be relased tonight, February 22 (Korean local time). It looks like the month of February belongs to Big Bang. There was a lot of excitement surrounding the release of their teaser pictures, and more information is coming out everyday.

[EXCLUSIVE] BIGBANG’S "BLUE" PREVIEW
Soompi was invited to visit YG Entertainment to bring BIGBANG fans all over the world the written studio preview of “Blue.” After going through some of the toughest moments in the group’s five-year history last year, BIGBANG is back again with their comeback single, “Blue.” This song in itself defines “alive” in every sense of the word (“Alive” is the title of their new album). From the first line that says, “Winter is gone, spring is coming,” to the oxygen mask-themed teaser photos, “Blue” reminds you that BIGBANG is back and alive, stronger than ever.
YG Entertainment has been noted for creating musical trends with uniquely blended sound. Their two main groups, BIGBANG and 2NE1, in particular, are known to change up their styles in order to distinguish themselves from an increasingly homogenous and repetitive K-Pop idol world.

Blue” brings yet another unexpected change of style to BIGBANG’s music. There is a confident, mature, and effortless sound here that goes well beyond their previous singles. In what would be best defined as an “electronic ballad,” “Blue” starts off with soft piano and acoustic guitar sounds that blend surprisingly well with each other. Seungri begins his first verse that leads into the repeating chorus part, “I’m singing my blues, becoming used to the blue tears, blue sorrow. I’m singing my blues, love that I let fly to the cloud.” What stands out is the way BIGBANG stretches the “Blue” in a smooth three step “Bluuuu. . . .uuuuu. . . . uuueeees.” The stretch is the core of the chorus and builds the rhythm of the whole song.
The beat starts to speed up as G-Dragon comes in with a rapping set. Right after G-Dragon’s rap comes Daesung’s verse, which is perhaps the highlight of the song. Daesung’s amazing, melting vocals leave you awestruck, especially considering his resilience to overcome all the hardships from last year. The song follows a similar pattern with TOP and Taeyang rotating, and “singing my blues” repeating throughout.
This is another attempt by BIGBANG to incorporate acoustic guitar sounds to their music since last year’s “Love Song.” 2NE1’s “Lonely” had a similar acoustic feel to it, but “Blue” is more soothing and mellow. It’s a step away from BIGBANG’s previous pop dance tracks that we’ve grown accustomed to, but an equally brilliant track. “Blue” has the elements to appeal to a wider group of audience, which is precisely what BIGBANG needs to establish itself as, heading into their sixth year as a group. G-Dragon mentioned he feels extreme stress to succeed every time he comes out with a new album. But with a combination of maturity and determination on full display, “Blue” should already be considered to have a spot on a “Best of BIGBANG” album.

What I expected going in was a fast upbeat track, but after listening to the song I could only be surprised and smile. Why? 2011 was a tough year for BIGBANG, full of personal reflection and hardships but what I heard in this song was a revitalized, confident, and strengthened BIGBANG. The first two vocal sets after the introduction had a back-to-back GD and Daesung combination. Having GD open the first rap verse really brings him back to what he does so well. His verse was full of rhythm and bite. The highlight for me was hearing Daesung’s voice. It was full of strength, and he hit his high notes flawlessly, giving everything is going well feeling. I liked that the song formats have stayed the same, with each member trading off vocal verses to emphasiz their strengths. Seungri’s intro to the song gave you a slow, smooth feel, setting the tone throughout the song. Taeyang showed his similar strength to Daesung on the second set, finishing the vocal verse on a high powerful note. The deep vocal style of TOP showed in his vocal set, with more of a spoken rap style.
The song’s theme is that spring has arrived, and the styling and artwork show this. It all came together; the frost-like features in the album art, the oxygen masks, and the blue colors took the artistic level up a notch.

[NEWS] Big Bang reveals, “If those incidents didn’t happen we may have broken up…”
For the first time since their controversial scandals made headlines, Big Bang‘s G-Dragon and Daesung broke their silence on February 20th’s SBS ‘Healing Camp‘.
The filming took place inside YG Entertainment‘s company building and the two honestly opened up about how hard it was for both of them during that time.
G-Dragon addressed the police reports that stated that the news was reported too late, the time taken to reflect on their actions was too brief, and that as a major company, YG Entertainment was trying to cover up their artists’ mistakes. Daesung also cautiously opened up about the time he spent alone after his accident, unable to even face his parents after what had happened. He honestly admitted that thoughts of suicide even crept into his mind.
Their fellow members T.O.P, Taeyang, and Seungri also served as guests on the episode, and the boys who featured on television for the first time as a 5-member group in nearly a year remarked, “When we were trainees, we didn’t have enough money to even buy Korean beef BBQ, so we had to eat pig’s skin. We recently went to the pig skin restaurant we used to frequent before our debut, just to reminisce.”
“As we approached our fifth year of being in the industry, we were slowly beginning to lose our focus and forget our original goals,” they continued, confessing that like all other idol groups, they fell prey to the ’5 year jinx’. “As 2011 passed us by, we did a lot of self-reflecting and realized a lot of different things. We members became a lot closer as well,” they said.
The members admitted that the hard times helped them realize what was important to them. They concluded, “If it weren’t for the things that happened last year, Big Bang might not still be together today.”
It’s a bit ironic that the mishaps that threatened Big Bang could be the very reasons that they’re still together.
