[NEWS] Both BIGBANG X iKON will perform at Japan’s biggest music festival

Both BIGBANG and iKON, YG senior and junior, will perform at “a-nation”, the biggest summer music festival in Japan.

Japan’s biggest summer music festival “a-nation” will be held on August 27 and 28 at Tokyo Ajinomoto Stadium. BIGBANG and iKON will perform on August 27.

BIGBANG performs as the headline artist of the festival for three years in a row, following their performance in 2014 and 2015. As iKON performs at the festival for the first time since their debut, their performance bears all the more significant meaning.

BIGBANG successfully held Japan dome tour from November last year to February this year. With the tour that drew as many as 911,000 fans, BIGBANG became the artist who drew the largest number of audience to concert in Japan for three years in a row, for the first time for a foreign artist. Plus, the successful finale of Japan fan club event tour that attracted 280,000 fans to 27 concerts in four cities until May this year also proved BIGBANG’s big popularity in Japan once again.

BIGBANG will meet more fans in Japan in live concert held on July 29, 30, and 31 at Osaka Yanma Stadium Nagai. The live concert that is expected to entertain 165,000 fans is held in celebration of the 10th anniversary of BIGBANG’s debut. In Korea, BIGBANG will release “BIGBANG MADE” movie on June 30 as the beginning of the project for their 10th anniversary. Other projects will be also unveiled one after another.

Rookie idol group iKON who has recently released digital single “#WYD” also enjoys big popularity in Japan. iKON made a grand debut in the country with debut album “WELCOME BACK” that took No.1 on Oricon chart upon its release in Japan in January this year. iKON’s first tour in Japan also set a great record by drawing an exceptional number of 146,000 fans. Since their debut, iKON is showing remarkable success, expanding the scope of their career from Korea and Japan to the Chinese region by holding Asia tour in Hong Kong as well as Nanjing, Chengdu, and Shanghai in China.
