[PEOPLE IS] GD Spends Half His Life as “Artist”
GD has been in the entertainment world for 15 years. Before making a debut as BIGBANG, he released an album in 2001 and many already know that he was the little boy Roo’Ra.
He lived half of his life as an “artist.” Since he was little he had a clear idea about what he wanted to be and he knew the direction. This is why GD is so confident now.
On June 18 he appeared on JTBC’s Newsroom and expressed his ideas so clearly and logically despite anchor Sohn Suk Hee asking him sharp questions. When asked “You are competing against idol groups like EXO and SHINee, but what sets BIGBANG apart?”, he answered, “We create our own. The fact that we produce our own music is our huge advantage. That’s what makes us confident.” His modest but firm answers even left Sohn impressed.
YG Entertainment’s Executive Producer YANG HYUN SUK unveiled a photo of GD when he was 14 on his social media on June 19. In the photo, the young GD grabs your attention instantly with his hip-hop hairstyle. He does not look that different to he does now, but his naïve smile is certainly captivating.
YANG would be the happiest to know about the popularity of BIGBANG. YANG did not hold back on supporting GD since he was very little. YANG uploading a young GD photo would be a sign of all the overwhelming emotions he has for GD.
As the member of BIGBANG, as a solo artist and as an artist, GD is attracting much attention from all around the globe. He makes his own music and shows much interest in fashion and art as well. He is friends with famous celebrities around the world and has rose to global stardom. GD showed much of his musical talents as the leader of BIGBANG and he is still dubbed “idol” and “musician” at the same time. Apart from this, he also has an amazing eye for fashion, which led him to an opportunity to meet with Chanel’s Karl Lagerfeld. He is also known as a fashionista across the world.
Recently he launched the exhibition “PEACEMINUSONE: Beyond the Stage” at the Seoul Museum of Art. He commented, “I have great interests in fashion and art. People may not like the fact that I am being involved in the art world, but I hope I can help art become more approachable to the public.” So it is no wonder that many people are curious to see where his future is directed to, with so many challenges he takes on.
Meanwhile, BIGANG’s music video of “BANG BANG BANG” hit 20 million views in just 19 days of its revelation.
