[EXCLUSIVE] G-DRAGON Meets Seoul Museum of Art… Collaborating for Art Exhibition
BIGBANG (G-DRAGON, T.O.P, TAEYANG, DAESUNG, and SEUNGRI)’s member G-DRAGON meets Seoul Museum of Art.
According to BIGBANG’s label YG Entertainment(“YG”) on the 26 this month, G-DRAGON will showcase his collaboration with artists from in and out of the country, in “PEACEMINUSONE: Beyond the Stage”, an exhibition to be held from June 9 to August 23 at Seoul Museum of Art located in Seosomun-dong, Seoul.
The meaning of the exhibition is that G-DRAGON’s cultural vision is interpreted in the language of contemporary art, to transcend the boundary of genres. Twelve modern artists from in and out of the country including Michael Scoggins, Sophie Clements, James Clar, Universal Everything, Quayola, Fabien Bersche, Architect SoA, Gwon Oh-sang, Bang & Lee, Park Hyung-geun, Son Dong-hyun, and Jin Ki-jong will take part in the exhibition.
G-DRAGON has communicated and collaborated for the exhibition for the past year, taking part in the selection of the artists and sharing his ideas on “PEACEMINUSONE”, the theme of the exhibition.
“PEACEMINUSONE”, the title of the exhibition, is the name of another world perceived and imagined by G-DRAGON. It shows the meaning of the crossing point between the ideal and reality (ONE) in the real world of want (MINUS), even though it pursues to be an ideal world of PEACE.
In the exhibition, total 200 pieces of art including installations, sculptures, photos, and paintings which have been born through artistic communication between G-DRAGON and the artists, as well as G-DRAGON’s personal collections will be showcased.
Seoul Museum of Art and YG who planned the exhibition together said, “We wanted to create an opportunity in which leading artists of Korean contemporary art’s different genres including photography, sculpture, painting, and installation gather together centering around G-DRAGON who is famous both in Korean and overseas, to produce new cultural contents, resulting in globalization of Korean art and introduction of this form of exhibition overseas”.
Meanwhile, the exhibition is sponsored by AirBNB, a website that connects travelers and local hosts in more than 190 countries.
