YG Entertainment’s BIGBANG topped Japan’s Oricon weekly DVD charts with its DVD on 6-dome tour in Japan.
As 79,821 copies of BIGBANG’s “JAPAN DOME TOUR 2013-2014” DVD were sold after being released on March 19, it topped both Oricon weely music DVD/Blu-ray chart and weekly overall DVD chart.
The first-week sales of 79,821 copies is far greater than the “BIGBANG ALIVE TOUR 2012 IN JAPAN SPECIAL FINAL IN DOME – 2012.12.5” that was released in March of 2013, which sold 36,000 copies in the first week.
The recent DVD has been proving its popularity by maintaining its throne on the Oricon Daily music DVD and overall DVD charts since its release. This is a testament to BIGBANG’s popularity gained by newly-found charms of the five members while they were being active at home and abroad through their solo activities in 2013.
In response to such results, G-DRAGON said, “As the DVD ranked first in the charts, I am very happy that many experienced our concerts. The 6-dome tour in Japan was an opportunity for the members to get together to perform after having been long engaged in their own solo activities away from group-related activities.” He also said, “The performance took a peep into BIGBANG’s past, present, and future. I would be very happy if such performance could be enjoyed on video.” Moreover, he added, “We will do our utmost to meet the fans again this year with BIGBANG’s new works.”
The DVD is about BIGBANG’s 6-dome tour in Japan that mobilized 771,000 audience in six Japanese cities, including Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Sapporo, Fukuoka, and Saitama, over about 3 months from November last year through January.
The DVD attracts attention as it holds the heat of the concerts vividly through 29 performances, including the seemingly unbeatable performance by BIGBANG armed with perfect live singing and performance as well as solo performances in which the members boast their unique individuality and charm. It also holds documentary footages that shows the preparatory stages and rehearsals of the 6-dome tour up close and personal.
In particular, the documentary footages include interviews about the members’ impression and resolve regarding the dome tour as well as words of gratitude for the fans, so they will surely be special bonuses for the fans.
Meanwhile, BIGBANG members plan to continue their solo activities, as T.O.P will feature in “The War of Flower 2” and SEUNGRI will feature in a new Korean drama called “Angel Eyes,” and BIGBANG is preparing for an unbeatable come back with the goal to release a new album within this year.
