[NEWS] G-Dragon Ranks NO. 2 with Solo Debut Album in Japan

G-Dragon has successfully released his first solo album in Japan.

G-Dragon’s first Japanese solo album, COUP D’ETAT, released on November 27, ranked number two on the Oricon daily album chart, tailing behind the top Japanese group KAT-TUN.

Selling over 34,597 albums on the day of its release, G-Dragon has broken the daily album sales records set by his own group, Big Bang, as well as its members Seungri and Daesung in Japan.

An album sales rep in Japan stated, “G-Dragon’s new solo album is expected to break the Oricon weekly album sales records set by Big Bang.”

The album COUP D’ETAT contains tracks from G-Dragon’s second solo of the same title as well as tracks from the album One of a Kind and Heartbreaker.

G-Dragon had previously traveled around 13 cities in 8 countries, holding 27 performances through his first solo world tour and has proven his success by earning four awards at 2013 Mnet Asian Music Awards.

The singer is also the first non-Japanese singer to hold a six dome tour in Japan, which began in November 16.
