- YG’s founder YANG HYUN SUK to reveal the 11 members for the first time at Production Sneak Preview on August 20

The survival program that determines the formation of YG’s first new boy group since BIGBANG 7 years ago will be aired on August 23 at 10 p.m. on Mnet and tvN simultaneously. The program is called ‘WIN’, each letter stands for ‘WHO IS NEXT?’

‘WIN Survival’ will have 2 teams: Group A consists 5 members including the ex-contestant of Superstar K2 and the recently debuted KANG SEUNG YOON, and the ex-contestant of K-Pop Star, LEE SEUNG HOON. The average age is 20 years old. Group B consists of 6 members with an average age of 17 years old, and among them is the then 12-year-old boy rapper B.I who featured in MC Mong’s ‘Indian Boy’, and Koo Jun-hee, another ex-contestant of K-Pop Star. The two groups are in for a fierce battle. It is a real survival show. The 10-episode show is gaining much attention as it will be aired at evening prime time on Friday simultaneously on Mnet and tvN, which are known for their extremely popular shows ‘Superstar K’ and ‘Grandpa over Flowers’.

YG’s long-year trainees will be divided into Groups A and B for a real battle, and the result depends solely on the viewers, which is different to other audition programs. The show will keep everyone on their toes as YG themselves do not know who the winner is going to be.

The winning group will be given the chance to make a debut immediately after the program finishes, under the group name WINNER. The losing team will not be able to make a debut for an indefinite amount of time. The show will reflect the cold and harsh reality of the professional music world.

A few weeks back, Group A with KANG SEUNG YOON aroused much attention when they released the choreography video. On August 20 (Tues), ‘WIN’ will have its production sneak preview at Seoul Yeouido’s Conrad Hotel. At the preview, YG Entertainment’s founder Yang Hyun Suk will be revealing the 11 members of Groups A and B. He will also lay further details and explain the intentions of this program.

The program itself is expected to draw attention not only from South Korea but from abroad as well because this is the first boy group by YG since BIGBANG’s debut 7 years ago.

Many are interested in YG’s new boy group since the entertainment agency already boasts a remarkable performance with its existing boy group BIGBANG, who, apart from being the top boy group in South Korea, were the first South Korean artists to hold World Tour joined by 800,000 fans. In November, in just one year since the big tour, at Japan’s largest Dome tour, BIGBANG will be joined by 730,000 fans. BIGBANG positioned themselves as an icon of Asia, performing on a scale and securing a market and a fan base that even overseas stars cannot easily achieve.

BIGBANG members will be overlooking the fellow trainees from YG battling on WIN program.

G-DRAGON will be using his upcoming introduction song ‘LET’S SHAKE THE WORLD in his solo album as the title song for ‘WIN’ program, while he and TAEYANG, who spent the longest time training at YG, will be involved in the battle of Groups A and B to help them produce songs and give advice.

Many are keen to see what kind of changes will occur in the South Korean music market with the birth of WIN’s final winner, and if they could be as excellent as BIGBANG.

WIN will be unveiled on August 23 at 10 p.m., simultaneously on Mnet and tvN. Many prominent companies will be involved in the program as well. The show will include subtitle services for overseas fans including Japanese and Chinese. The large-scale project will be aired to the international fans all at the same time.

Further details will be announced by YG’s CEO YANG HYUN-SUK at the production sneak preview of WIN on August 20, Tuesday.
