[NEWS] Big Bang releases new project, “Remake of indie musician”
Idol group Big Bang, composed of 5 members, recently returned to performing and released a new project.
On June 5, Big Bang attended a press conference for the ‘YG X Hyundai Card Re-branding Project’ and talked about their new plan for their special album Still Alive.
The conference was for Big Bang’s agency, YG Entertainment, and Hyundai Card to release their new collaboration project.
G-Dragon said, “Since we all are very interested in music, we shared each other’s opinions to make the album. The album and music video are all made as a blockbuster and it was such a nice experience. We are planning to wear various costumes to give various performances.”
Big Bang will not perform their new album but they will meet their fans through the Re-branding Project. Hyundai Card portrayed Big Bang’s musical growth and worries through new logo BI (Brand Identity), jacket photos for the album, and music video. They also created Big Bang’s brand guidebook.
Music project called ‘Re-monster’ will be proceeded as well. Big Bang’s new song “Monster” will be reinterpreted by various musicians and introduced on Hyundai Card Music. The remakes will be officials released.
G-Dragon said, “We hope that many indie bands will participate the project. We are so excited that indie musicians and other musicians will reinterpret our song.”
The musician who made the most popular ‘Re-monster’ song will be given chances to perform at Hyundai Card Music popup store and to make digital single.
Big Bang release their special album on June 3. The title song “Moster” ranked first on several music charts and receiving an explosive response.
A music video for the song received over 4 million hits on YouTube only in two days of its release. The video ranked first on Viral Video Chart, a popular British online video chart site, by beating world wide rock band Coldplay.
On June 5, according to the U.S. iTunes album chart, the group’s special album ranked 46th. Big Bang is the only Korean singer who entered the Top 200 list on iTunes album chart. The group also ranked 34th in Canada, 162nd in France, 90th in Australia, 25th in Mexico, and 49th in Chile.
The group will not perform in Korea with their new album to focus on preparing for their Japanese tour instead.
Big Bang started their tour on May 17 and 18 in Nagoya, Japan. They will hold 13 concerts in 5 Japanese cities, including, Osaka, Saitama, and Fukuoka until June 24. G-Dragon will release his solo album in August as well.
