Group BIGBANG is reigning the upper parts of music charts in and out of Korea for long.
BIGBANG rose to the first place of Melon (a website like iTunes-most popular in Korea) Real-time Chart with ‘FANTASTIC BABY’ now,17th 7PM. It has been about one month since the release of the album.
BIGBANG, who kept the first place with ‘BLUE’, abdicated the throne of most charts to 2AM who came back on 12th, but gained it back with another song within 5 days. Melon is the biggest music website with almost 40% share of the digital music industry of Korea.
Not only Melon. BIGBANG’s ‘FANTASTIC BABY’ is on the second place in OllehMusic, third in Monkey3, fourth in Mnet and Soribada, sixth in Bucks. ‘BLUE’, ‘BAD BOY’,'LOVE DUST’ as well still remain firm in TOP 10 of various charts,
It has been appraised as having scary (because it’s too powerful) endurance in even a situation where strong opponents, including 2AM and Ryn who gained much popularity with OST for ‘The Moon Holding the Sun’, are coming back and releasing albums. It is a rare phenomenon for a song to ‘contraflow’ the chart in the recent trend of music industry–a song is only popular for 2-3 days shortly to 1 or 2 weeks at the longest after the release.
The Music Video of ‘FANTASTIC BABY’ is very popular as well. YouTube gave two gold medals to BIGBANG’s ‘FANTASTIC BABY’ M/V on 16th. The M/V exceeded 8 million views for past one week and was chosen for ‘Recently Popular Video’ and won ‘Hot Issue(Trend)’ at the same time.
Yang Hyun-Seok producer of BIGBANG’s management, YG Entertainment, explained the constant popularity of ‘FANTASTIC BABY’ as such. “It’s been 5 years since releasing a electrical song in BIGBANG’s name, after ‘Last Farewell’. (‘Baby Baby’) I think it (such popularity) is possible because this is the song that is most ‘like BIGBANG’.”
Meanwhile, BIGBANG was loaded with the honor of ‘Mutison Song’ for two weeks in a row at Music Bank on 16th while they did not participate. BIGBANG had very low score in the number of broadcast, but won over Aily, the other nominee of Mutison Song this week, very easily with the Album score, Digital Music score and the Preference of the Viewer score.
