[NEWS] BIGBANG TO BE FEATURED IN HIGH SCHOOL TEXTBOOKS

Big Bang's popular cover song "Red Sunset Glow" is to be featured in newly issued set of music textbooks, which will be distributed throughout high schools nationwide.

After dominating music charts and music sales alike with their recently released comeback album, Big Bang has racked up yet another achievement, this time within the academic circle.

On February 23rd, Korea's Minister of Education, Science, and Technology that Big Bang's popular 2008 song "Red Sunset Glow", originally sung by Lee Moon Sae in 1988, is to be featured in one of three revised music textbooks which were approved by the government back in July of 2010. Additionally, it has been announced that will contain a number of other songs that were recently popularized by various national idol artists, Big Bang included.

The revised textbooks will soon be distributed throughout Korean high schools. The purpose of including such popular cover songs in the curriculum is to demonstrate the similarities of Korean music, and how it has evolved and changed collectively. Released by the Tae Sung Publishing Company, the textbooks will cover Korean music beginning from the 1920's continuing through the present time, in order for students to relate to the content of the books.

In regards to this announcement, the Minister of Education, Science, and Technology has stated, "Our music textbooks used to contain classical music or art songs, but publishing companies have decided to include works from popular groups for the first time. These days, it has become the trend for textbooks in every subject to try to maximize the learning effect in students by providing them with motivation."

This seems plausible, as the Hallyu wave has had an immense impact upon today's youth, and the inclusion of such topics may very well increase the students' will to learn. The inclusion of idol groups such as Big Bang in academic texts displays the immense gravity of the idol craze.
