[2012 MAMA] How 2012 Became the Year of Big Bang
On the night of November 30 in Hong Kong, Big Bang took home a total of four awards – three for the group and one for its leader at the Mnet Asian Music Awards.
It’s true that Big Bang was partially missing on the K-Pop music scene in the second half of 2012, but that doesn’t make the group any less worthy to receive the awards that it did.
From its Alive to Still Alive albums, Big Bang rocked the music charts in 2012.

“2012 MelOn Music Awards” have decided its top 10 artists to be nominated for the Artist of the Year award. “2012 MelOn Music Awards” sponsoring companies Loen Entertainment and MBC Plus Media announced BIGBANG, 2NE1, Busker Busker, BEAST, PSY, SISTAR, IU, Infinite, T-ara, and Huh Gak as “2012 Melon Music Awards” Top 10.
Of the Top 10 artists, 6 teams are idol groups, proving an on-going strong idol trend in K-pop industry. Moreover, global star PSY, audition sensation Busker Busker, and solo female artist IU have been picked as the Top 10 artists, too. Big Bang’s Peruvian fans donated rice to commemorate the groups recent visit and holding a concert in their country.
Peruvian fans had donated 524 kg (approximately 1155 lbs) of rice, and donated the rice to care centers, women protection centers, and children protection centers in Big Bang’s name.
The Peru stop of Big Bang’s ‘Big Bang Alive Galaxy Tour 2012’ marked the first time that the idol group had held a concert in the country. The fans response as a result was incredible, and even the media followed Big Bang, broadcasting not only their airport arrival, but the hotel they stayed at.
