[NEWS] Big Bang Nominated for Best Album Jacket in Japan
After winning praise and awards for its style, music and more, Big Bang is now receiving recognition for its album jacket.
On July 18, the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) released its list of nominees for its Music Jacket Gallery 2012, which recognizes the best album jacket designs of albums released in Japan.
In its list, Big Bang’s limited edition version of its Japanese best album The Best of Big Bang, which was released in November of last year, was nominated in the limited edition category with 14 other nominees
The limited edition The Best of Big Bang album jacket features an array of individual pictures of the Big Bang members to form a collage that highlights the group’s name Big Bang
The Music Jacket Award takes into consideration albums that were released in Japan between April of the previous year through March of the current year.
After tallying the votes of the public on the nominees, the RIAJ will announces the winners in October.

[NEWS] G-Dragon has over 200,000 Twitter followers
Big Bang’s G-Dragon opened his Twitter account only two days ago but he already has over 200,000 followers.
G-Dragon started tweeting comments and pictures on July 16 and showed off his high popularity by signing up over 230,000 followers.
Taeyang left a welcome note for G-Dragon and G-Dragon expressed difficulties about using his Twitter account by saying, “I don’t know anything about this.”
On July 18, G-Dragon drew a lot of attention by posting a picture of him wearing a hat and mask and posting like he is riding a skateboard.

[NEWS] BIGBANG mentioned on America’s CNBC article about the K-Pop Phenomena
As yet another sign of K-Pop going global, the American news outlet, CNBC, has published an article on the K-Pop phenomena.
An article was published titled, ‘Move Over Bieber – Korean Pop Music Goes Global’ on July 16 in CNBC’s ‘Investing in South Korea’ section.
In it, the article mentions Big Bang , 2ne1 and Girls’ Generation and talks about the frenzy that these idol groups are creating writing the groups are, “selling out concerts within minutes worldwide, breaking through Billboard music charts and even being featured on postage stamps in Korea.”
The article also covers the growing profits and economic windfall K-Pop is generating, citing figures such as K-Pop’s industry revenues being some $3.4 billion in 2011 and also revealed K-Pop’s exports have grown annually, on average, 80 percent since 2007.

Following after the footsteps of his childhood best friend Taeyang, Big Bang’s G-Dragon has joined the social networking site, Twitter.
G-Dragon created an account with the name ‘IBGDRGN’ on July 17 at approximately 7AM (KST). By 9AM (KST), G-Dragon had close to 60,000 followers and three tweets, shouting out to Taeyang and YG producer, Choice37, as well as one announcing that he has no idea what is what on Twitter.

Recently on an online community site, a posting was made with the title ‘Idol’s original stage names’.
Included was a list of idol groups and members and their amusing, and some downright hilarious, stage names that they could have made famous.
Many idol groups also originally planned to debut with different stage names with Big Bang originally being called ‘Diamond’
Within Big Bang, T.O.P’s stage name was originally conceived as ‘Mark’, Daesung as ‘Big Castle’, Seungri’ as ‘Sonic’ and Taeyang as ‘Taekwon’.

[NEWS] BIGBANG'S M/Vs RANK ON TOP 10 MOST WATCHED K-POP MV FOR 1st HALF OF 2012
Many stellar K-Pop music videos were released on YouTube in the past six months but for those of you wondering which ones were the biggest hits, wonder no more!
YouTube released its top 10 most watched K-Pop music videos for the first half of 2012 on July 16.
Two lists were released with one taking into account the most watched music videos in Korea and the other, the most watched worldwide.
In the global list, Big Bang’s Fantastic Baby topped the ranking with over 33 million views (as of the chart’s posting). Following was another Big Bang song, Blue while Big Bang′s tracks Bad Boy and Monster also placed fourth and sixth on the list respectively.
On the domestic ranking Big Bang also took the fourth, fifth and eighth spots with Blue, Fantastic Baby and Monster respectively.

[NEWS] YG Entertainment warns fans to be wary of online scam
YG Entertainment warned their fans to be wary of a performance scam on a particular ticketing site.
On July 12th, an insider from YG Entertainment informed OSEN, “GD&TOP will not be performing at a club on the 26th. Please be careful, so that you do not fall victim to a performance scam.”
Ahead of their warning, a ticketing site announced that Steve Aoki would be spinning at club Ellui in Seoul on July 26th, and that GD&TOP would be performing alongside Afrojack.
Club Elluii also reported via their official Facebook page July 12th, “Ellui has nothing to do with the UMF PRE PARTY [allegedly] taking place July 26th, for which [website] is selling tickets. The party is not taking place at any club in Seoul, and we would like to inform you that Ellui will not be hosting this event. We are currently taking legal action, so please be careful not to fall victim to a scam.”
The tickets on the site went for about $43 (50,000 KRW), and VIP rooms for about $867 (1,000,000 KRW).
