[NEWS] G-DRAGON & TOP WERE MENTIONED ON PICTHFORK
GD&TOP: "Knock Out"
Rapper G-Dragon is apparently fluent in multiple languages, and the sticky English hooks he sometimes tosses into his verses offer tantalizing hints at a full-scale crossover. In this outlandishly cool, Missy Elliott-style video, he's paired with frequent collaborator and fellow Big Bang member TOP. See also: "Tonight" by Big Bang and "High High" by GD&TOP.

[NEWS] DAESUNG TALKS ABOUT HIS FAITH & G-DRAGON IN LASTEST INTERVIEW
Daesung's church (Champyungan) recently approached him for an interview, it was quite difficult for them to approach him for an interview. It had been months since the world was shocked by his accident, but yet he was still not active with his fellow members. He had not conducted any interviews with the press. Champyungan told him, “We don’t think interviews happen because people want them to happen. They will happen when God decides the timing is right.” And just a few days later, Daesung responded. “I’ll do it“.
On Sunday October 2nd, 2011. After the 2nd service had ended, Champyungan met with church member Kang Daesung and interviewed him, check out the interview below.
It has been about a year since we last interviewed you. So many things have happened in that time; how are you holding up?
I spent most of my time at church. I come when there is work to be done on the weekdays, and I come when I meet with our Young Adult (Hepzibah) Group
It’s probably been awhile since you’ve spent so much time at church; how does it feel?
Things were really hard after the accident. I thought to myself, ‘If it weren’t for my faith, I may have committed something truly horrible’. After the hardest 3-4 days of my life, I decided I wanted to come see our head pastor. I asked the youth leader if that would be okay, and he invited me to come. And when he saw me, he encouraged and comforted me. I felt a sense of peace in my heart, and after that I started spending all my time at church. This was the only place that offered me comfort.
What do you mean you might have committed something horrible if it wasn’t for your faith?
A lot of entertainers commit suicide. And I now completely understand why. I’m not saying I was thinking about it, but if it weren’t for my faith, I could possibly have gone down that road. So I was so thankful. I thanked the Lord that he had given me this faith. Every single comment I read online pierced my heart. What was most heartbreaking was that people were calling me a murderer. Every time I walked outside, I felt like people were looking at me like I was a murderer.
Did you feel safe within the church walls?
Honestly, yes. I wasn’t really in a situation to be meeting and socializing with other people, but I felt comforted when I came here. When I stayed at the dormitory, I felt such anxiety and I wasn’t able to eat anything. So I stayed at church. Every time I needed to work, I came here. The thoughts I would usually have working elsewhere did not torment me when I was at church.
Even those who don’t believe in God say that they feel a sense of peace come over them when they come to church. Why do you think that is?
If you’re a member of our church, you would understand why. In some ways, I’m more comfortable at church then I am at home. I read online that even non-Christians were supportive of me re-gaining my confidence as well as my life by spending time at church, and it was really encouraging.
How did you feel, those first 3-4 days?
I couldn’t go outside. I was so sorrowful, and I kept remembering what happened. My head was full of thoughts and the days just flew by.
What kind of thoughts did you have?
I was partially at fault so I was so sincerely apologetic towards the individual. I prayed a lot. But even in my prayers, I would have reminders of that moment and I couldn’t continue. My prayers weren’t really prayers. I would just simply repeat ‘I’m sorry, I’m sorry…’ for twenty minutes, and then cry again…
What were you sorry about?
I was sorry about what had happened to him, I was apologetic towards our agency and the members, and I was afraid of how my actions would impact the church. Instead of our church being uplifted by my actions, it was about to face harsh criticisms because of what I did. I was just so completely sorry. I was sorry to my parents, as well as to his parents…
Didn’t you attend his funeral a few days after the accident? Must not have been easy for you.
It was hard. But I felt responsible, and I knew I needed to pay my respects. I was involved in what had happened, and it was something that had to be done. It was really hard to walk in, and I could not even look up at the faces of his family members. But the family members were kind enough to actually encourage and comfort me.

[NEWS] BIGBANG LEAD 2011 MAMA NOMINATION
SINGAPORE: Just who is coming to the 2011 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on November 29?
Well, nobody knows who exactly will be turning up yet, but the list of artists who might grace the event has narrowed considerably, following the release of the 2011 MAMA nominees on Tuesday.
A total of 17 awards will be given out at the 2011 MAMA but the categories with the most big name nominees appear to be Best Male Group, Best Female Group, Best Dance Performance Male Group and Best Dance Performance Female Group.
The competition for the Best Male Group award will definitely separate the men from the boys as it is filled with high-powered nominees like Big Bang, Super Junior, Beast, TVXQ and 2PM.
The fight for Best Female Group is no less intense as popular K-pop girl groups SNSD, KARA, 2NE1, f(x) and Brown Eyed Girls go head to head for the award.
Meanwhile, the Best Dance Performance Male Group award nominees largely mirrors that of those for Best Male Group with boy bands Infinite and Rain's proteges MBLAQ in the running while 2PM is left out.
The nominees for Best Dance Performance Female Group award are more of a mixed bag - with SNSD, 2NE1, T-ara, 4Minute, Secret and miss A vying for the award.
One of the two grand awards being given out is the Song of the Year which sees a variety of artistes like Tablo, Hyun-A, FTIsland, CNBlue and IU being nominated for the award.
The other is Artiste of the Year award, which is perhaps the most coveted award at the 2011 MAMA.
There no less than 30 nominees for the award including most of the acts covered above as well as a slew of newcomers like Dal Shabet, A Pink, Brave Girl, B1A4, and Boyfriend.
A spokesperson for event co-organisers MediaCorp Vizpro said the list of attending nominees at the 2011 MAMA is still not known, but even if a fraction of the nominees turn up, this year's MAMA will still be a massive star-studded event.
Tickets to the 2011 MAMA are on sale now.
BIGBANG is nominated for 5 categories:
1) Best Male Group - TONIGHT
2) Best Dance Performance Male Group - TONIGHT
3) Best Music Video - LOVE SONG
4) Song of the Year - TONIGHT
5) Artist of the Year - TONIGHT

[NEWS] BIGBANG ON EMA-INSPIRED LAST-MINUTE HALLOWEEN COSTUMES
So it’s down to the wire and you still haven’t come up with any ideas for this year’s Halloween costume? No worries! Take some inspiration from the many 2011 MTV EMA nominees with signature style…that is surprisingly easy to copy on the cheap. In fact, you can probably throw together any one of these looks by raiding your own closet, your roommate’s, and/or your parents’. (OK, and maybe picking up a wig.)
To maximize the celebrity-lookalike effect (and deflect “You totally just threw that together at the last minute, didn’t you?” remarks), enlist your equally procrastinatory friends to join you in a group costume.
BigBang
Round up a posse of pals to go out together in sleek black suits with pops of bright color peeking out: think gloves or a dress shirt. Voila—you’re Korea’s hottest boy band in their latest style incarnation. So what if they’re not a household name in your nabe? In a year, your friends will remember how totally ahead of the curve you were.

[NEWS] Jung Il Woo to become in laws with G-Dragon?
At a press conference for new tvN Kdrama ‘Pretty Boys’ Ramen Shop‘, actor Jung Il Woo began to talk about his beloved Shar Pei, Ah Woo with his fans who were present at the event.
“My dog who was given to me as a birthday gift from my fans last year now weighs nearly 40 pounds, and won’t listen to anything I say,” he said."When I was filming ‘49 Days‘, G-Dragon who also has a Shar Pei called me and asked if I was interested in letting our dogs get married", he revealed.
But due to the busy schedules of both, the dogs have been unable to meet yet. He continued, “I was so busy filming the drama, we were unable to get together to arrange the marriage for our dogs… And also because Ah Woo is female, I feel like she should play a little hard to get anyway. If he contacts me again, though, I think I just may allow it.”
And in regards to his fans, he said, “My fans keep me grounded, and they are my source of drive. They are the reason I am able to keep a good head on my shoulders… My fans that have been with me since my debut know me better than my own family. To me, they are my acting coach, and my stylist, and I work hard and am always aware of my actions because I don’t want to disappoint any of them.”
In his new drama ‘Pretty Boys’ Ramen Shop’, Jung Il Woo plays the role of a handsome high school student, Cha Chi Soo, who develops a romance with the athletic Yang Eun Bi, the daughter of the Ramen Shop.

[NEWS] BIGBANG : WORLDWIDE ACT NOMINEE SPOTLIGHT
This week, we’re spotlighting each of the five Worldwide Act nominees, and today it’s all about BIGBANG.
The South Korean boy band beat out Agnes Monica, Exile, Gotye, Jane Zhang, Jay Chou, and Sia for the honour of being the first act to represent Asia Pacific in the race for the new Worldwide Act EMA.
As their moniker might suggest, BIGBANG make a splash, with their catchy hip-hop/dance pop and their suave fashion style—and after attaining megastardom in their home country, they’re starting to gain recognition internationally.
The five-piece group (Daesung, G-Dragon, Seungri, Taeyang, and T.O.P.) topped the charts in 2007 with their single “Lies” in Korea and won the Seoul Music Award for Artist of the Year—among other honours—that year. BIGBANG went on to amass fans in Japan and win awards there. They scored Best Pop Video and Best New Artist trophies at the MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2010.
After a hiatus when the group members focused on pursuing side and solo projects, they returned with a—wait for it—bang. Their 2011 release ‘Tonight’ was the first K-pop, or South Korean pop, album to hit the iTunes top 10.
You can vote for Worldwide Act and the other open MTV EMA categories through 4th November. The winners will be announced on 6th November at the 2011 MTV EMA in Belfast, airing on MTV at 9 PM CET (9 PM GMT in the U.K.).

[NEWS] TAEYANG ASSURES FANS THAT BIGBANG IS DOING FINE
Big Bang member Taeyang recently reached out to fans with a message that revealed his feelings. In the face of the controversies that groupmates Daesung and G-Dragon are embroiled in, Taeyang's words come across as assurance that the "Big Bang crisis", as it has come to be known, is not going to happen.
On October 25th, he tweeted: "I think all the hardships we went through this year were sent our way in order to make us stronger. Thank you once again for all your concern and love. Love ya." His succint statement caught the eyes of fans for its positivity.
It is particularly significant in that it is the first such statement since Daesung and G-Dragon were involved in their respective controversies. Taeyang had previously tweeted a cryptic message at the start of October, saying: "I know everything, even though I seem like I don't. I may seem like I'm being deceived, but I'm just keeping my eyes closed." Fans guessed then that it had something to do with G-Dragon's marijuana charge, but it remained as nothing more than mere speculation.
However, his message this time clearly alludes to the abovementioned controversies. The phrase "made us stronger" also informed fans that far from posing a problems to their future activities, Big Bang has become tougher instead.

[NEWS] BIGBANG ONE OF THE IDOL GROUP'S IMPACT ON THE MUSIC INDUSTRY
Much like last year, thus far in 2011, the Korean music industry has been dominated by idols. With top idol groups promoting overseas as part of the Hallyu wave, their influence has spread beyond Asia into Europe and South America as well.
With that said, the “report cards” (aka the album and digital sales) of boy groups and girl groups for this year were compared.
> Idol groups’ impact on the music industry
According to the results of Gaon Chart this year (from January 2nd to October 1st), idols have placed 51 songs out of the top 100 songs on the digital chart.
The idols that make up the top ranks include Hallyu’s top idol groups: Big Bang ,2NE1 etc.
When the album chart was reviewed, it was clear that idols had a stronger influence on album sales than in digital sales. For the album charts from the same period, idol groups had 69 albums out of the top 100, and the entire top 10 (from 1st to 10th) were all albums belonging to idol groups.

First topping the charts with the upbeat single "Lies," the band has since become one of Asia's most recognizable acts. And with a collaboration with Major Lazer's Diplo on one song by members G-Dragon and T.O.P. called "Knockout," it seems like Asia's not the only place they're receiving attention.

YG Entertainment is shooting for the largest ticket sales in the shortest time in the Korean music industry history.
YG Entertainment will hold a total of 4 concerts titled, ’15th Anniversary YG Family Concert’ with 2 dates in Kyocera Dome in Japan (1/7 and 1/8/2012) and the again 2 dates in Saitama Super Arena near Tokyo (1/21-1/22/2012).
Given the fact that 2NE1, managed by YG Entertainment, has sold out their Japanese tour starting the end of September through the beginning of this month and that Big Bang’s Daesung will be back after 8 months on hiatus after the car accident, YG Family’s first Japanese concert has many aspects that can draw a lot of attention. It’s expected that the tickets will be sold out.
If the concerts in Japan are sold out, it will gather a total of 160,000 in the audience. SM Entertainment has gathered about 150,000 people for the 3 dates in September at Tokyo Dome and this would push their numbers above and beyond.
As verified by Star News, YG Family concert ticket in Japan will sell for 12,800 Japanese Yen, which translates to about 190,000 KRW. If all 160,000 tickets are sold, the ticket sales alone will bring in 30,300,000,000 KRW ($26.26 million at press time).
Such sales would be the largest sum in the shortest time period by any Korean artist or any company brand concert.
The 15th anniversary of YG Entertainment is celebrated with the YG Family Concert in Korea as well, in December this year. On December 3rd and 4th, there will be 3 concerts at the Seoul Gymnastics Stadium with 40,000 audience members. The tickets in Korea will sell for 88,000 KRW per, bringing the total to 3,200,000,000 KRW.
