[NEWS] YG QUALITIES TO ENTER KOSDAQ
As one of the top three entertainment companies in Korea, YG Entertainment has passed screening to go public on the KOSDAQ (Korea Securities Dealers Automated Quotations), a Korean stock market exchange equivalent of America’s NASDAQ. YG will be the 2nd entertainment company to qualify to be listed on the stock market, following SM Entertainment.
YG Entertainment passed the Stock Exchange Commission’s screening to go public on the KOSDAQ. The stock price is anticipated to be set around 24,600~28,800 WON (around $22 – $26 USD with a face value of 500 WON). Around 35 billion won (around $33 million USD) will be up for trade on the initial public offering.
For those of you with a keen memory, YG failed their initial screening process to be listed on the KOSDAQ in the 4th quarter of last year and applied for the process once again in under a year, successfully qualifying this go around with risen share prices.
With 2NE1 and Big Bang sweeping the charts and topping album sales, along with the total views of all YG related videos on Youtube hitting over 400 million (as of May 6th), YG Entertainment’s explosive sensation overseas was a key factor in their success.
Having top idols groups such as Big Bang and 2NE1, along with, Se7en, Psy, Gummy, and many other star musicians, YG Entertainment is a blue chip company as their sales in 2010 is estimated to be around 44.8 billion won (around $44 million USD), with 10 billion won (around $10 million USD) being net profit.
YG Entertainment’s future seems smooth, as well. Starting this year, Big Bang and 2NE1 will be expanding from the Korean scene to Japan and the U.S., leading the Hallyu wave. YG will also be breaking their operating system of producing only few elite trainees and expand their horizon as they have signed contracts with Kang Seung Yoon from “Superstar K2″.
YG Entertainment also has a good history of never having any conflict regarding contract disputes with their celebrities. Top celebrities Big Bang and Se7en have extended their contract for an additional 5 years without raising any issues. This leads back to founder Yang Hyun-Seok’s business philosophy of putting the future and priority on the artists’ before the company.
In an interview with OSEN, founder Yang Hyun-Seok explained, “I’ve had countless offers to sell shares of my company through a backdoor listing, but I pushed them all away. I have no intention whatsoever of making profit through the stock market. My reason to have YG Entertainment listed publicly is because I accepted the management’s advice to make YG a transparent and global company“.
Another plus is that YG has always lead in philanthropy and good works. YG was the first Korean entertainment company to donate 500 million won (around $500,000) to Japan’s earthquake cause. YG entertainment has caught attention because they donated a large sum of money to Japan despite the fact that their artists’ promotion in Japan have been delayed due to the earthquake.

[NEWS] DAESUNG'S CAR ACCIDENT NEWS IS "THE MOST SEARCHED ON WEB"
Last week, the traffic accident of Daesung, the member of Big Bang and the sad news of the singer, Chae Dong Ha's committing suicide have topped the Google mobile and web search.
Daesung's news ranks first in the web search. At 1:40am of 31st in May, when he was driving along the southern end of Seoul Yanghwa Bridge, he got involved in a traffic accident. On that day, Daesung was driving his car and was involved in an accident with a taxi which was in front of him. During the process, on the road was already lying a motorcyclist whom had been knocked down by a hit-and-run driver. Police is now investigating the accident in which the motorcyclist had died to check whether Daesung was related to it.

T.O.P.: It has been about 1 year and 9 months since we released the last album 'BIGBANG' and within this period of time, a variety of changes have occurred. Regarding my vocal approaches, I learnt how to control my voice when I have to be tender and when I have to be loud. I have become more mature in this way.
D-LITE (We call him D.L in the following): I have gained experience from the activities in order to improve myself. I think the things that I newly learnt can supplement my original personality. In a nutshell, this piece of work is a great and smooth album.
G-DRAGON (We call him GD in the following): We have been growing a lot. When we are all combining together, we have become smoother.This is the album which can show how we are like now.
DL: Yes, it gives you the feeling that 'this is how BIGBANG like nowadays'. I think this is the thing that we have accomplished.
GD: During this period of 1 year and 9 months, we started to understand more of our own specialty. I myself has also been maturing in recording and it has become smoother.When I say, 'sing this song' everyone can sing it with a voice which can match the feeling of the songs. I think it is our growth when comparing with the previous albums.
VI: Concerning the songs which are included in the album, there is little resemblance that we have in this album with the previous ones. In the previous albums, there are many songs which are upbeat but most of the songs we have included in this album are sad and about separation. We are seeing whether we can receive good responses from the melody and lyrics composed by the more matured BIGBANG.
SOL: Yes. I think that when listening to the 10 songs which are included in the album, the feelings can be different according to the different situations you are in. Therefore, a range of feelings can be found in the music of the album. I think I would like to do more of these in the future.We have also used various methods in producing this album which are different from the previous works. It has given out the feelings of having more layers of the album.
GD: Because the types of the vocals and those of the melodies we have today are more than ever, many thinkings of people have been inluded.
T.O.P.: The title song of the album, 'LOVE SONG' has a tinge of western feeling. I think it is the best sign to show our changes individually.
SOL: BIGBANG becoming deeper and darker = freshness. I hope that you can enjoy listening to all of the songs in the album.
V.I.: We have increased our depth of expression when singing the songs because we have accumulated a lot of experience.
DL: You are right.
T.O.P.: So, to my impression, our supporters were particularly young girls only young girls but we will be glad if we can attract people from the former generation with this album.
G.D.: In order to attract more people to listen to our music without difficulties, we are also seeking to make music which is more popular.

We are going to reveal at the fastest pace about the their shots of the title song of 'BIGBANG2' album, 'Tonight' which have placed great emphasis on thrt individual colors and the must-do poses in filmming a PV!
G-Dragon appeared in the opening scene. He wore a wild coat which attracted a lot of attention,he is really the representative of the fashionista from Korea. Then, he changed to black stylistic suit and a top with Dalmatian pattern, etc. He has changed several special pieces of clothes which caught others' attention. TOP dressed in a piece of suit, his style of clothing together with the girls in the car intensify the feeling of being an adult.VI was standing under the blue sky and singing enthusiastically on the patch where a monument is enacted. His feeling is so colourfully 3-dimensional. SOL was driving a black sports car at night on a street, his sining at the coast of the sea really caught our attention. It has been about 1 year and 3 months that they hold the tour for the whole nation. In order to express their wish about the relief of the big earthquake, they changed the title of the concert to 'Love& Tour Tour' urgently. They started the concert with the title song 'TONIGHT' and have received a lot of cheering from the audience. They also performed their newest songs of 'BIGBANG 2' They also sang songs like 'Let me hear your voice' and 'Gara Gara Go!'. They sang 24 songs in total and delivered a cool performance which was charming. SOL, D-LITE, VI's solo songs were revealed at the later stage of the concert which showed their singing power. [NEWS] G-DRAGON ATTENDED THE 3rd MBC SINGING FESTIVAL
Bigbang's G-Dragon attended the third singing festival of MBC which is called ‘West Coast Highway Singing Festival’ .
The members of ‘Infinity Challenge’ and some musicians left the 2 days 1 night meeting at MT(Membership Training) on 2nd of June. They met up in order to from rallies with each other for the singing festival and have intermediate check to strengthen their relationship.
About 1 hour and 30 minutes before they left MT at 12 noon, the opening of the festival was filmmed at MBC's Ilsan Dream Center . ‘Good Life Singing Festival’ (tentative name) and later known as ‘West Coast High Way Singing Festival’ has officially commenced.
On this day, it is said that G-Dragon dressed comfortably and was there with other members in the opening.

Bigbang's G-Dragon, despite Dasesung’s incident of traffic accident, has appeared on the third song festival of MBC’s “Infinity Challenge,” as scheduled.
On June 2nd, all members of “Infinity Challenge” and the musicians who participate on the song festival left for two-night MT in Kanghwa Island.

[NEWS] DAESUNG VISIT THE FUNERAL SITE OF ACCIDENT
On the night of June 2nd, Daesung paid a visit to the funeral site of accident victim, Hyun. He apologized to the victim’s family after paying his respects to their loved one.
The victim’s family stated, “Daesung arrived with his agency representatives. We received apologies from Daesung and from YG Entertainment, and talked about the procedures that will be taken from now.”
Daesung visited the funeral site around 10:30PM KST. He came with five individuals, including the chairman of YG Entertainment and his attorney. It’s said that he kept his head down and said “I’m sorry“, and apologized again when a family member confronted him.
Family member ‘A’, who was in charge of the funeral procession, stated, “Daesung looked very shocked. A representative from his agency apologized, and Daesung was unable to speak. When the relatives told him to apologize directly to Hyun’s family, he bowed his head to every person in the room and sincerely apologized to each and every family member.”
The apology took place four days after the accident, and two days after the funeral site was set up. This was the first time that the victim’s family met with Daesung and his people from the agency. As such, some of Hyun’s family felt disappointed by the lateness of the call.
‘A’ commented, “We did feel disappointed. A person has died. And he is the person at the center of this accident. We thought the apology came first. But according to the agency, [Daesung] ‘drove at 60km’, ‘Even I couldn’t have avoided the accident’; they explained the accident like that and sheltered him. Our child is dead and gone, and we were disappointed as human beings.”
YG Entertainment explained that the visit took place late at night so that Daesung could pay his respects in person as well. The high level of interest in this case would have made it difficult for Daesung to arrive earlier in the day. They also explained that after the accident happened, Daesung’s condition was so bad that he could not come right away. He couldn’t even eat, and did not see his parents.
Another family member by the name of ‘B’ stated, “The agency explained that it took [a lot of] time so that they could bring Daesung. We were angry at first but after seeing Daesung in person, he looked truly pitiful himself. He looked like he was having a hard time. Wouldn’t he be shocked to have experienced this horrible accident at such an early age?“.
YG Entertainment apparently discussed the funeral proceedings with the victim’s family, and it was agreed that the agency would absorb the costs associated with the funeral. After police investigations are complete, further arrangments will be made with the family.
The victim’s family stated, “We heard about the CCTV and autopsy [proceedings]. We think revealing the truth is the most important thing right now. Daesung’s side apologized sincerely, and told us that they would consult with us cordially about future procedures, so we’ll trust them for now. We will proceed with the burial of the coffin as scheduled.”
The police are currently analyzing CCTV collected around the accident site. The victim’s family were given initial reports of autopsy results and analysis from the CCTV footage.
But because nothing has been finalized or confirmed, however, the family has decided to remain mum. At this point in time, they seek nothing but the truth.
Hyun’s family stated, “The dead don’t speak. But don’t they have a right not to feel injustice even when they’re dead? We hope that questions about our child’s death will be answered by investigations done by the police. Unfair things should never happen to anyone. The police is the only thing we can trust now.”

[NEWS] VICTIM HYUN'S FAMILY SPEAK OUT ON DAESUNG'S ACCIDENT
Following the unfortunate news of Big Bang Daesung’s accident and motorcyclist Hyun’s (30) death, family members of Hyun gathered today for his funeral.
On the afternoon of June 1st, Hyun’s family gathered at a funeral home in Seoul in remembrance of their beloved family member. The scene was reported to have been sorrowful as siblings, friends and relatives mourned over their loss.
Meanwhile, Hyun’s accident was first revealed through a relative of his, who will be referenced throughout the rest of this article as Person A. Person A agreed to an interview with ‘Dispatch' in which he stated, “After I initially got word of the accident, I was extremely shocked… Ever since he [Hyun] was little, I regarded him as my own child. To hear that he left this world at such a young age… my heart broke.”
Hyun’s older brother was also seen at the funeral. He was described as being speechless. His family stated, “He grew up with his younger brother. We brought him here to the funeral home this morning. Hyun was his only sibling so this is a major loss for him.”
It has also been revealed that Hyun’s parents have yet to be informed of their son’s death. The family stated, ‘His parents’ health is not stable right now. Their health is unstable to the point that everyday tasks are difficult… We think that they will go into shock if they hear about their son’s death, so we have not informed them yet.”
In regards to Daesung’s involvement in the accident, the family stated, “We have seen Daesung on TV a lot and are big fans… While the loss of a family member is hard on us, it breaks our heart to know that a young friend [Daesung] is going through such a hardship right now. We’re not sure what kind of destiny this is.” And while Hyun’s family have not come in contact with Daesung’s side, they added, “We have not come in contact with his people. Neither have they come in contact with us… We have only heard stories from police investigations and insurance companies. Because it is a hard situation for both of us, there has been no business sentiment.”
Hyun’s family also spoke out against current speculations and rumors pertaining to the accident. They said, “The autopsy results have not accurately come out yet. Also, because the CCTV has not been thoroughly evaluated yet, speculations and rumors make the situation harder… We understand that there are various stories being spread regarding the accident, however, we wish that until the results are accurately posted, that everyone will watch the situation quietly.”
As a final response, the family stated, “This whole situation is the only thing on our minds right now. We hope that when the results of the investigation are released, no one becomes victimized, including Daesung. We hope to wrap up this incident with no chagrin, that is our family’s last thoughts.”

[NEWS] YANG HYUN SUK UPDATES ABOUT DAESUNG'S ACCIDENT
On June 2nd, YG Entertainment’s Yang Hyun Suk updated the YG-Life blog with his thoughts on Daesung’s car accident. He also discussed 2NE1’s upcoming release and “YG ON AIR“.
His message reads:
“The release of 2NE1’s new song as well as this week’s ‘YG ON AIR’ broadcast has been postponed for a week. We would like to apologize for not being able to alert our fans of this earlier, as it was a decision made under emergency circumstances. We ask our fans for their understanding.
With regards to news of Daesung’s car accident, we would first and foremost like to send our deepest condolences to the deceased and his family members. We pray that he rests in peace.
I know that Daesung is the type to always blame himself for everything that goes wrong, so I was very worried about Daesung’s condition after the accident. Just as I expected, he was holed up in his room, refusing to even talk to his family members.
No matter what I say, I know that it cannot console him, but I visited his dorm in the early morning and told him, ‘Daesung, if I was in your position, it would have been hard for me to avoid it as well.’
I did not say that simply to console him, but because it is truly how I feel. At the time of the accident, the managers received emergency notification and arrived at the scene within 20 minutes. They were able to observe the scene of the accident.
To briefly describe what happened, at 1:30 AM KST on May 31st, it was raining and a victim of another accident was lying on the road. A car ahead of Daesung discovered the victim and quickly swerved off the lane, but Daesung was unable to avoid hitting the taxi in front of him, resulting in a collision.
Because it was so sudden, Daesung didn’t know even after the collision that there was a motorcyclist on the scene. Though the taxi driver estimated Daesung’s speed to be at 60km/h, Daesung testified that he was driving at 80. The truth will be discovered through CCTV evaluations and police investigations; yet because the taxi driver has long-time driving experience, and because people don’t accelerate on downhill lanes, in addition to the fact that there was a turn at the end, I feel that the taxi driver’s estimation is closer to the truth.
I know that the pain Daesung is going through is incomparable to the agony that the victim and his family are feeling, but what I am most worried about is that this will bring about serious psychological trauma that will last months, years, or maybe an entire life-time. What I am most upset about is that Daesung had also been in an accident prior to this in 2009, where he had almost lost his life. That shock still has not worn off, and he’s suffered yet another shocking accident.
Maybe the shock will wear off well into the future… but this might be the most difficult time for Daesung.
I honestly hope that accurate investigations will be carried out so that the weight Daesung is carrying can be lifted free.
Thank you to all of you who are worrying over Daesung. I would like to once again send my deepest condolences to the victim and his family.”
