[NEWS] BIGBANG hosts “V LIVE” for five weeks… Eating at a fan’s home, “unique concept”


Global live-streaming video service “NAVER V”’ launches its official Android version on the 2 this month, and BIGBANG’s private broadcasting “V LIVE” will also begin. The official iOS version will be launched in mid-September.

BIGBANG’s “V LIVE” will have different concept for each member, and it will be aired on every Wednesday at 11pm for five weeks from September 2. The first episode is “One Plus One Equals G-Dragon-Let’s Not Do Anything” by BIGBANG’s leader G-DRAGON. G-DRAGON will comfortably communicate with fans just like a video call.

On the 9, TAEYANG’s “TAEYANG’s I’m going now, to eat” with a special concept in which TAEYANG visits the house of a fan who was selected in advance to eat together, will be broadcast, to show the meeting between a star and fan.

Since the launch of the beta-service on July 31 this year, NAVER has focused on the advancement of the technology and stability of service, as a video live-broadcasting service launched in line with the rapid global expansion of its business. NAVER has also made big efforts to secure star line-up and communication for the service. The number of artists included in the line-up was originally 25 including TEEN TOP, Park Bo-Young, and MAMAMOO, but it increased to 47. The accumulated number of video streaming also surpassed 87 million, while the accumulated number of hearts given to the stars by their fans also reached 460 million.

Girls’ Generation have hosted total eight live-broadcast shows under the concept of “Jack-of-All-Trades” and BTS who is on their world tour showed lively live-broadcasting of their concerts in Thailand, Japan, and Hong Kong. FNC Entertainment unveiled the company’s picnic with its artists including FT Island and CNBLUE. Notably, those stars communicated with fans around the world in a friendly manner, in different places such as their dance practice room, their own room, waiting room for their concert, etc.

Recently, the real-time communication between stars such as Joo Won, Park Bo-Young, and Lee Jun-Ki and their fans also drew a big attention. Actor Joo Won who has recently been shooting drama series “Yongpari” unveiled the shooting through “V” broadcasting, and made a promise he will keep when the series reaches high viewership rating. Actress Park Bo-Young also did “V-LIVE” broadcasting in late night, after the end of her recent drama series “Oh My Ghostess”.

Director Jang Jun-Ki (technology fellow) who is in charge of “V”’s video technology said, “Fans from 210 countries around the world are meeting their favorite stars on “V” and the ratio of overseas download is as high as 60%. To enable more seamless and faster communication regardless of time and space, we are now focusing on advanced technology and service stability”.

Park Sun-Young, the head of NAVER’s Entertainment & Lifestyle Center said, “Both participating stars and global users are enjoying the new type of communication through “V” and the pace of growth is good as you can see from statistics. As we’re making a good start, other functions that create good harmony with the V service will be added one by one, to make this service evolve into a globally-recognized one.”
