BIGBANG is arousing much attention as their track “FANTASTIC BABY” was featured in the film “Pitch Perfect 2,” a Hollywood musical comedy.
Billboard posted an article on its website (http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/k-town/6538560/new-pitch-perfect-2-trailer-bigbang-fantastic-baby-kpop) with the headline “New ‘Pitch Perfect 2′ Trailer Features BIGBANG’s K-Pop Hit ‘Fantastic Baby’.”
It wrote, “Pitch Perfect may be known for covering chart-topping pop songs, but its new trailer spotlights one of the biggest K-pop hits ever. In a new, just-released trailer for the upcoming movie, BIGBANG’s Korean electro-banger “Fantastic Baby” is blasted … remarkably, its Korean verses are heard throughout the trailer.”
“Released in 2012, “Fantastic Baby” has become a signature song for BIGBANG. With more than 143 million views on YouTube, it’s not only the male act’s most-viewed music video on YouTube, but one of the video site’s most viewed K-pop vids ever — putting the guys up there with PSY, in terms of most watched Korean videos. The track has also been one of the biggest K-pop hits in America spending, to date, 112 weeks on Billboard’s World Digital Songs chart and peaking as high as No. 3.”
BIGBANG’s track is shown through clips of Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow and the cast. For about 30 seconds from 1:45 of the clip, the electronic sounds go perfectly well with the movie’s atmosphere.
Billboard added, “While it’s not clear to what capacity “Fantastic Baby” will be used in the film, a sync in a movie like Pitch Perfect is yet another win for Korean music that has seemed penetrated yet another traditional media source.”
“Pitch Perfect 2” is the follow-up of “Pitch Perfect” released in 2012, which became a huge hit around the world. It will be released next month.
“FANTASTIC BABY” is one of the tracks in BIGBANG’s 5th mini album “ALIVE,” loved for its fast beat and dynamic choreography. Last March, the video hit 100 million views on YouTube, which was the first to hit that number as a South Korean male group.
Meanwhile, BIGBANG will be releasing their newest song at the World Tour concert in Seoul on April 25 and 26 at Seoul Olympic Park Gymnastics Arena.
