[NEWS] G-DRAGON WILL PERFORM AT KCON 2014
Billboard can exclusively reveal that K-pop superstar G-Dragon is the latest act performing at KCON, America's premiere K-pop festival featuring concerts, fan meet-and-greets, panels, Korean TV and movie stars and more. After unveiling a new collaboration with Missy Elliot at KCON 2013, the singer/rapper headlines the first of KCON's two nights of concerts. See the first look at the concert lineup below.
As the leader of K-pop boy band sensation BIGBANG, G-Dragon has proven himself with his bandmates, but also earned stateside accolades as a solo artist. The 25-year-old has sent two of his Korean albums to the Billboard 200 – 2012's "One of a Kind" EP (No. 161) and last year's "Coup D'Etat, Pt. 1" EP (No. 182) – making him the first, and to date only, K-pop act to send two consecutive efforts to the chart. Last year also solidified G-Dragon as the highest-charting Korean singer artist on Billboard's Year-End World Albums Artist chart.
G-Dragon has also broken past the K-pop scene, making an appearance on Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart thanks to "Dirty Vibe," a collaboration track with Skrillex and Diplo. The singer also recently revealed he recorded a track with Justin Bieber.
G-Dragon headlines the first night of concerts at KCON. After growing to two days of festival activity last year, the convention now boasts two nights of concerts. K-pop music chart program "M COUNTDOWN" will be filmed onsite and promises to feature longer sets by the performers.
Tickets go on sale today, July 1, with more ticketing options coming days later. Tickets can be bought at KCONUSA.com. KCON 2014 hits Los Angeles' Memorial Sports Arena on August 9 and 10.
