[NEWS] G-DRAGON & CL Bow on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs Chart Thanks to Skrillex's 'Dirty Vibe'
The K-pop stars spend a second week on Billboard's EDM chart this week
Skrillex enlisting K-pop superstars CL and G-Dragon for new track "Dirty Vibe" made for one of the most pleasant suprises off the dubstep maestro's "Recess" album. Now, the song is proving to be one of the record's most popular cuts.
In its second week on Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, the hyperactive "Dirty Vibe" track sits at No. 23, down from its No. 19 peaks last week. It's the first appearance on the EDM chart for both CL, a member female quartet 2NE1, and G-Dragon, a part of boy band BIGBANG, who both lay down deliciously vulgar verses over the Skrillex/Diplo beat.
The track is lifted off Skrillex's "Recess" album -- at No. 15 on the Billboard 200 this week after debuting at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 last week. The song boasts more than 1 million streams from Skrillex's YouTube account.
G-DRAGON and CL are no strangers to making big Billboard chart moves, either.
With 2NE1, CL broke the record both highest-charting and biggest-selling K-pop album in America to date when their sophomore LP "Crush" debuted at No. 61 on the Billboard 200 with 5,000 copies sold last month; G-Dragon is the only K-pop star to land two consecutive records on the Billboard 200 with 2012's "One of a Kind" (No. 161) and last summer's "Coup D'Etat, Pt. 1" EP enterting at No. 182. Last year, G-Dragon became the highest-charting Korean artist to land on the year-end World Albums chart.
Skrillex's EDM-meets-K-pop collaboration isn't the only album track to make waves on the Hot Electronic/Dance Song ranking. "Recess" stays at No. 13 while "All Is Fair in Love and Brostep" is at No. 18, from No. 17, both in their second week on the chart.
