[NEWS] G-DRAGON COVERED BY CANADIAN NEWSPAPER AS “PERFECT K-POP STAR”

“La Presse”, Canada’s daily newspaper published in French, is drawing attention by publishing a concentrated coverage of BIGBANG’s leader G-DRAGON.

In its article on the 29 last month, “La Presse” introduced G-DRAGON as a K-POP Star who won four awards at Asian music awards “MAMA” and who collaborated with Missy Elliott and Justin Bieber.

The newspaper went on to take example of G-DRAGON’s second full solo album “COUP D’ETAT” to mention his musical work with foreign musicians like Diplo and Baauer, and highlighted G-DRAGON’s global-level artistic capabilities by covering his exchanges with world-class foreign musicians. At last, it expressed especially high expectations for G-DRAGON’s collaboration with Justin Bieber.

“La Presse” gave G-DRAGON a rave review “He has everything to be a perfect K-POP star” and went on to say “His all including his music, dance, and look is attractive”. It especially praised G-DRAGON’s unique image as a singer with strong individuality and style, and said his strength is the fact that he is able to pursue different genres while maintaining his own style.

In addition, “La Presse” mentioned that G-DRAGON is an Asian star who is appealing to the public with his uniquely attractive style, and that he has as many as 2.3 million Twitter followers, being loved by so many fans. It spotlighted G-DRAGON by quoting “Julie Corneau”, an insider of Quebec’s K-POP forum.

“Julie Corneau” said “I first discovered G-DRAGON at a concert in New York in 2010. G-DRAGON is fluent in English and very outgoing, so I think he is the one with the biggest potential for success overseas, among Korean solo musicians.”

G-DRAGON has been complimented for his global capabilities and artistic sense by a number of foreign media outlets including COMPLEX and New York Times, being evaluated as a huge K-POP phenomenon. It is worthwhile to keep watching if G-DRAGON will grow into an artist who can exert worldwide influence beyond Asia.
