As further proof of K-Pop’s growing global recognition, a slew of K-Pop artists have been nominated in different categories for this year’s World Music Awards.
Taking into account the top artists from all six of the seven continents (excluding Antarctica) and 160 countries, the World Music Awards announced its 2012 World Music Awards nominees via its official homepage on December 7.
Psy nabbed himself the most nominations being nominated for the categories of World Best Video, World Best Song and World Male Artist. In the category of World Best Video, Psy was nominated twice for both Gangnam Style and its second video featuring Hyuna.
Hyuna herself is up for the World Female Artist while over in the World Best Group section, Big Bang, SNSD, Super Junior and the Wonder Girls are all competing with the likes of Coldplay, One Direction, Maroon 5 and more for the award.
For World Best Song, in addition to Psy’s Gangnam Style, Ailee’s I’ll Show You and Lee Hi’s 1,2,3,4 have been nominated.
The nominated K-Pop artists will have to wait until December 20 for the 2012 WMA to take place in Miami’s Marlins Park to find out if they’ve won.
