[NEWS] Big Bang to Lee Hi, YG Entertainment Takes Over 2012

It seems like YG Entertainment has taken over the charts this year from Big Bang to Lee Hi.

Lee Hi debuted on October 29 with her new song, "1,2,3,4" and has been ranked number 1 on the music charts for 16 days. She has been called the 'monster rookie' as she beat Busker Busker's record of 12 days of being number 1 on the charts.

Before Lee Hi, Epik High brought out an album on October 19, making it 3 years since they last put out an album. They first released the song, "It's Cold" featuring Lee Hi. With the start of their new album promotions with their double title songs, "UP" and "Don't Hate Me," they ranked high on the charts.

G-Dragon also came out with his 2nd solo album, ONE OF A KIND, and released his song, "That XX," which ranked number 1 on various music sites. On September 15 with the release of his album, he ranked number 1 on a total of 9 charts.

Out of all the YG artists, Psy was the most successful. He released "Gangnam Style" on July 15 and soon enough, the video went viral and his global success began. His music video currently has over 714 million views and is the 2nd most viewed video of all time. He is the first Korean artist to attend the MTV EMA's as well. He is also number 2 on Billboard's main single chart HOT 100 for 7 weeks now.

Big Bang started off this YG craze back in February with the release of their 5th mini album, Alive. After its release, it ranked number 1 on music charts. They also released a special album, Still Alive, in June.

The very first of YG artists to kick off 2012 was Se7en on February 1. He ranked number 1 on many music charts including the U.S. iTunes R&B category.

An official commented, "I think YG succeeded in trying to show different colors and styles of music. They will continue to show more unique and fresh sounds."
