Lee Hyori wittily explained the reason for her ‘NC-19’ joke on You and I.
Hyori, the MC of SBS’ music program You and I, attracted the attention of the public with her explicit joke on the March 18 episode, where Big Bang appeared as guests.
During a discussion about height, Seungri said, “A small chili can be spicy,” showing his confidence in his height. To which Hyori asked, “Isn’t that a bit vulgar?” eliciting laughter from the audience.
Big Bang members were taken aback and couldn’t hide their embarrassment at Hyori’s bold remark. Immediately after the broadcast, Hyori’s remark received a lot of buzz and was referred to as the ‘NC-19’ joke.
On March 19, a day after the broadcast, Hyori tweeted, “[The NC-19 joke] was a result of my learning how to become a MC from Shin Dong Yeop oppa.”
Shin is widely considered the broadcasting comedian of NC-19 jokes and the two previously worked together on KBS2’s Happy Together 10 years ago.
