[NEWS] Big Bang and 2NE1 Release New Albums on the Same Day in Japan

Big Bang and 2NE1 joined forces to bring on the hallyu takeover in Japan by releasing albums on the same day.

On March 28, Big Bang released Alive, while 2NE1 released its new album Collection.

Big Bang’s new album contains a total of 10 tracks, eight of which are from the group’s fifth mini album Alive released in Korea, and two which are new, Ego and Feeling.

Ego and Feeling have been much anticipated by the group’s fans as they will be released for the first time in Japan. Feeling, which was written by the German artist Boys Noize, G-Dragon and T.O.P., has already gathered attention for being the opening theme song for the animation Transformer Prime.

Ego also shows off the characteristic Big Bang groove and fun lyrics.

2NE1’s album will contain 12 tracks, including the group’s hits in Korea and the bonus tracks Like a Virgin, She’s So (Outta Control) and Scream.

Like a Virgin will showcase 2NE1’s take on Madonna’s mega hit of the same title, and She’s So (Outta Control) will be a remixed version of the single that was included in m-flo’s sixth studio album.

2NE1 showed it wielded great power in the market by tying up Like a Virgin, Scream and Love is Ouch even before their official release with green tea, travel agent and fashion magazine commercials.

M-flo member Verbal participated in both Big Bang and 2NE1’s albums. Verbal wrote the Japanese lyrics for Big Bang’s Fantastic Baby and 2NE1’s Scream.

The two groups will also be appearing together on the stage of the biggest music festival in Japan, the Springgroove, to be held from March 31 to April 1 in Kobe and Chiba. They will be performing shoulder to shoulder with global artists such as LMFAO and David Guetta.

Big Bang recently announced the schedule for its 2012 Big Bang Alive Tour in Japan, which will pass through five areas in Japan—Nagoya, Yokohama, Osaka, Saitama and Fukuoka—and even before the tickets were officially made available, many of the concerts sold out through pre-sales alone.
