[NEWS] AN ARTICLE ABOUT G-DRAGON, TOP AND SEUNGRI'S SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX APPEARANCE

"One of the top boybands from Korea, Big Bang, headlined a K-pop concert here barely two months ago, but they are already raring to race back to Singapore.

Three members of the quintet will perform as headliners at the 2011 Formula One SingTel Singapore Grand Prix next Friday at the Padang.

They are G-Dragon, T.O.P and Seungri. And T.O.P, whose real name is Choi Seung Hyun, 23, tells Life! in an e-mail interview that he really enjoyed playing to fans here.

“I felt a huge and very tremendous energy throughout the concert,” he says, referring to the gig at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. “We, all the members, prepared that concert with all our hearts for all fans in Singapore. Singapore is actually one of my favourite countries.”

All three members are excited to perform at the Singapore Grand Prix, as they are fans of sports cars.

G-Dragon, for instance, says that he drives a convertible version of luxury car Bentley GT.

Formed in 2006, Big Bang’s discography of albums, EPs and singles regularly appear in the Korean charts. Tell Me Goodbye and Beautiful Hangover, the two songs from their most recent album, Big Bang 2, both went to the top of the singles charts there.

The group has also made waves in the Japanese pop industry, and has the distinction of being the first non-Japanese group to pick up the Best Newcomer trophy at the Japan Cable Broadcasting Award in 2009 and the first Korean act to pick up the Best New Artist award at the Japan Record Awards the same year.

Individually, members of the group – who also include Taeyang and Daesung – are also successful in their solo music and acting careers.

For the F1 gigs, the rappers in the group, G-Dragon and T.O.P, will perform as a duo. The pair released a self-titled collaboration album late last year which featured the No.1 single High High.

G-Dragon, whose real name is Kwon Ji Yong, 23, says that the collaboration came out of a desire to work on a new style of music. “We wanted to introduce our music to other rappers as well.”

Besides music, T.O.P is an established actor who has appeared in a few television drama serials such as Iris and the movie 71: Into The Fire. He says: “It might be very hard for me to say that I’m enjoying one of them more than the other. At the moment I enjoy both singing and acting.”

He was tight-lipped when asked about the future of Big Bang, though.

“It’s very confidential at this time, but we are preparing a super cool surprise for our fans. It’s coming really soon.” "

[NEWS] Big Bang’s G-Dragon chooses Kim Min Hee as the greatest fashionista

OnStyle‘s ‘Style Magazine‘ recently went behind-the-scenes of G-Dragon‘s fashion photoshoot and interviewed the star on fashion trends and fashionistas.

When asked to choose the ultimate fashionista, G-Dragon immediately chose actress Kim Min Hee. He reasoned, “Kim Min Hee nuna is able to pull off any sort of style. Every time I see her, she has this really distinctive flair that I think is amazing. Sometimes she’ll look boyish, sometimes innocent, and sometimes even sexy. She doesn’t stand out too much and matches to every situation she’s in. I think she’s pretty even in just a white t-shirt and jeans.”

When asked to choose a trend that he thinks will be popular for the fall season, he replied, “SNSD socks. Also, one of my fashion principles is wearing my pants lowered.”

The episode will also delve into why he’s obsessed with accessories, where he normally goes shopping, and fashion styles he’d love to try one day. Check it out on September 17th.

[NEWS] BIGBANG IS THE MOST POPULAR IDOL IN RUSSIA

Russia has been feeling the K-Pop wave for some time now thanks to the development of the Internet, but the wave seems to have gotten stronger as of late, as they're now focusing their efforts on bringing K-Pop stars straight to their doorsteps.

On September 13, Yang Min Jong, the director of the Korean Cultural Center in Russia, revealed, "On September 6, the "K-Pop Cover Dance Festival" was held in Moscow. Ever since then, Muz-TV, a channel that focuses on music and entertainment news in Russia, along with other concert sponsors, has been making visits to the center asking for information on a number of Korean idol stars. They've even made digital music contracts as well as invite them to perform in Russia."

Muz-TV revealed that if contracts worked out, they would be showing K-Pop music weekly. The channel held an online survey at the end of August to see which groups were the most popular. Survey results showed that BigBang, SHINee, Super Junior, DBSK, the Wonder Girls, JYJ, SNSD, BEAST, and 2NE1 were the hottest idols among the youth.

"High school and college students who fell in love with K-Pop through the Internet and YouTube have been making calls or sending letters asking us to air K-Pop-related content. This is why we suggested working with the Korean Cultural Center to make this a possibility. About 5,500 people participated in an online survey last month, and 4,500 of them voted for K-Pop as the genre they'd like to hear the most," an official from Muz-TV said.

Another concert host has also expressed an interest in bringing in 12 idol groups to perform in Moscow.

[NEWS] GD&TOP TO RELEASE "OH YEAH" AND "HIGH HIGH" IN JAPAN THIS NOVEMBER

YG artists G-Dragon and TOP will be revealing their first Japanese single under their sub-unit in November. The single's title track will be a Japanese version of "Oh Yeah" which features 2NE1's Bom as an extra vocalist. "High High" was said to be included into the tracklist as well. Both songs had their lyrics revised for a Japanese release, and were made to fit to the original one as much as possible. Both songs were originally featured on GD&TOP's debut album.

The Big Bang unit made it easier for both its members to put out music that wouldn't be fitting for the whole group. Their first album was revealed last December and was well received by the Korean fans.

During the holidays, fans pointed out a rumor that the duo might be preparing for their Japanese debut after being spotted at Jeju International Airport together with 2NE1's Bom. Bom further revealed in an update that she has a little secret for her fans, which ignited the speculations even more.

"Oh Yeah (Feat. Bom)" will be released on November 9th and will act as the first release on YG and Avex's joint label YGEX.
