[NEWS] Big Bang Shows "Monster" Power in Album Sales in Japan, Taiwan

K-pop idol band Big Bang has proved to be the rulers of K-pop.

The group scored the gold status for two of their Japanese singles after selling over 100,000 copies in Japan, according to Recording Industry Associations of Japan [RIAJ] last Friday.

Their latest sales record for "Tell Me Goodbye" and 2012 hit "FANTASTIC BABY" is just another feat for the stars, after gaining the title with "ALIVE"--Japanese edition of Big Bang's fifth mini-album of the same name--earlier this year.

Following the achievement, the five-member band was overjoyed again by shattering the biggest ticket sales record of all time for Korean artists in Taiwan.

The dominant boy group had attracted 20,000 fans for two sold-out shows hosted at the Taipei Arena last weekend and raked in approximately four million U.S. dollars for both shows.

Set to hit Manila’s Moa Arena in Philippines on Wednesday, the K-pop icons will keep themselves busy until early next February with more shows in Malaysia, United States, Peru, Japan, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom.

[NEWS] G-DRAGON WANTS TO LAUNCH HIS OWN FASHION BRAND IN THE FUTURE

G-Dragon confessed that he wanted to launch his own fashion brand.

G-Dragon had recently collaborated with the accessory brand AMBUSH for AMBUSH x G-DRAGON and in his interview with GQ he stated, “It looked cool for a musician to have his own brand. I want to also have my own fashion line in the future, so I asked Verbal a lot of questions pertaining to that.”

AMBUSH was created by m-flo rapper Verbal and his wife Yoon.

Verbal revealed that he had known G-Dragon before his Big Bang days and said, “G-Dragon bought a lot of AMBUSH products in Japan, but he bought it not only from my art gallery but from another store that sold AMBUSH. I thought that was pretty cool.“

[NEWS] G-Dragon Eyeing New Album & Concert Next Spring

K-pop artist G-Dragon is planning another surprise coming in a few months, YG Entertainment C.E.O said last week.

YG chief Yang Hyun-suk revealed in an interview with 10Asia last Thursday that G-Dragon's new album and concert are planned next spring.

“It was G-Dragon's initial plan to drop a full-track record, not a mini-album. As the release date was put off, we had a short time left for promotion. We all felt so bad about this that we've decided to release another G-Dragon's solo album and hold a concert next spring," Yang said, confirming the trendsetter's new project.

"I may set the overall schedule for albums and promotions but I am not the one who makes music. it’s the artists,” he added, apologizing for G-Dragon's short musical activities this year due to the two-month delay of his mini-album.

Expressing his difficulties of supporting the firm's artists’ music works, Yang said the K-pop icon will definitely make up for the lack of his presence on stage as a solo artist this year.

“I never push them or order them to do something with a due date. That’s not how YG does it. That is beyond my ability...... It is the artists, and not me, who are doing music and my job is to make a better environment for them to produce better music,” the C.E.O said in a humble manner.

[NEWS] Big Bang Breaks Record For Highest Concert Ticket Sales for Korean Artist in Taiwan

Big Bang has proven itself to be one of a kind once more through its recent concerts in Taiwan.

The group brought in some 20,000 fans recently for its two day concert in the Taipei Arena in Taiwan on October 20 and 21 as part of its ongoing Alive Galaxy Tour 2012.

The five members not only performed in two sold out concerts, ticket sales alone reportedly raked in 118.5 million Taiwan dollars in total (approximately 5 billion Korean won), making it the highest ticket sales for a Korean artist in Taiwan.

Arriving in Taiwan on October 19, the group was quickly escorted through a specially-prepared separate gate, but even there, a swarm of fans and press outlets such as Taiwan’s NEXT TV and others were on hand to cover their arrival.

After holding a press conference, the group kicked off its two-day concert the next day, where it performed smash hits Lie, Blue, Fantastic Baby and some 25 tracks in all in front of a passionate crowd.

Among those in the audience were some of Taiwan’s biggest stars, including Vivian Hsu, Vanness Wu, Xinbo Fu, Lam JJ and more.

It marked only the second time Big Bang has gone to Taiwan in their career with the group having paid their first visit this past April to commemorate Alive selling over 20,000 copies and achieving double platinum status.
